Sales Tax Policy

Understanding tax collection, exemptions, and your responsibilities

Last Updated: April 6, 2026
Overview: Pallet Liquidators USA collects sales tax on orders shipped to states where we have a legal obligation to do so. This policy explains how sales tax is applied and how qualified resellers may claim exemption.

When Sales Tax Is Collected

Pallet Liquidators USA is required to collect sales tax on orders shipped to states where we maintain a physical presence ("nexus"). Currently, we have a physical warehouse and business operations in:

  • Florida - Our primary warehouse and headquarters

For orders shipped to Florida addresses, applicable state and local sales tax will be calculated and added at checkout based on the shipping address.

States Where We Do Not Collect Tax

For orders shipped to all other states (outside Florida), Pallet Liquidators USA is not currently required to collect sales tax. However, customers may be responsible for self-reporting and paying applicable use tax to their state tax authority.

Important: Even if we do not collect tax, you may still owe tax to your state. Please consult your tax professional or state tax authority for guidance on use tax obligations.

Florida Sales Tax Rate

The Florida state sales tax rate is 6%. Additional discretionary sales surtaxes (county taxes) may apply depending on the delivery address within Florida. The total tax rate ranges from 6% to 8.5% depending on the county.

Example Florida Counties & Tax Rates

Miami-Dade: 7%
Broward: 7%
Palm Beach: 7%
Orange (Orlando): 6.5%
Hillsborough (Tampa): 7.5%
Duval (Jacksonville): 7.5%
Pinellas: 7%
Lee: 6.5%
Polk: 7%

Reseller Tax Exemption

If you are a qualified reseller purchasing inventory for resale, you may be exempt from sales tax. To claim exemption, you must provide a valid Resale Certificate from your state's tax authority.

How to Claim Exemption

  1. Complete your order online or via phone/email
  2. Provide a valid Resale Certificate or Sales Tax Exemption Certificate
  3. The certificate must include your business name, tax ID number, and be valid for the current tax period
  4. We will verify the certificate and remove tax from your invoice
  5. Keep a valid certificate on file for future purchases

Accepted Resale Certificates

  • Florida Annual Resale Certificate (DR-13) - For Florida-based resellers
  • Multistate Tax Commission (MTC) Uniform Sales & Use Tax Resale Certificate - For out-of-state resellers
  • State-Specific Resale Certificates - Valid certificates from any U.S. state
Submit Your Certificate: Email your Resale Certificate to info@palletliquidatorsusa.com with subject line "Resale Certificate - [Your Business Name]".

How Sales Tax Is Calculated

When applicable, sales tax is calculated based on:

  • The shipping address - Tax is based on the destination where the pallets are delivered
  • The current tax rate - State rate plus any applicable local/county surtax
  • The taxable amount - Product price before shipping charges (shipping is generally not taxable in most jurisdictions)

Sales tax will be clearly displayed on your invoice and at checkout before you complete your purchase.

Tax-Exempt Organizations

Qualified tax-exempt organizations (such as registered non-profits, charities, and government entities) may also be eligible for sales tax exemption. To claim exemption:

  • Provide a copy of your IRS determination letter (501(c)(3) for non-profits)
  • Provide your state-issued tax exemption certificate
  • Exemption will be applied to qualifying purchases only

Out-of-State Purchases

For customers located outside Florida:

  • We do not currently collect sales tax for orders shipped outside Florida
  • You may be required to self-report and pay use tax to your home state
  • Many states require businesses to report and pay use tax on out-of-state purchases
  • Please consult your tax advisor or state tax authority for guidance
